Our
practice primarily provides general internal medicine and pediatrics to
Eastern Maine area patients, ranging in age from newborns through
geriatrics. We emphasize preventive medicine, but also have an active
hospital practice. In addition we have an occupational medicine program
for local businesses with our own on site physical therapy department.
We have an active sports medicine presence in the community and offer
on-site orthopedic evaluations and physical therapy for both the
competitive and non competitive athlete. Coastal Health Center offers
cosmetic dermatology including botox, dermal fillers (restylane, perlane,
radiesse) and customized laser procedures.
Our
convenient location allows a close working relationship with Maine Coast
Memorial Hospital, where we care for acutely ill patients.
We
also have a close working relationship with specialists in Bangor,
Portland and Boston and can refer when necessary.

Office Hours
Our office is located at 37
Commerce St. in the new Ellsworth Business Park, Ellsworth, Maine.
The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Patients
are seen by appointment only. We pride ourselves on punctuality.
Please plan to arrive several minutes before your appointment time.
We realize the value of your time and will do everything possible to
keep your waiting time to a minimum. In return, we ask that you call
ahead for appointments, cancel appointments that you cannot keep,
and be patient with us if emergencies interrupt our schedule.
Missed Appointments:
Coastal Health Center
honors our medical relationship with you and in order for this to be
a positive experience for us both, we ask that you be here for your
reserved time with us. Because we are unable to see another person
if you miss an appointment, you will be charged for appointments not
kept. Three missed appointments would facilitate a review of our
medical relationship.
Phone Calls and Lab Results
When you call our office
with questions, our receptionist will refer you to the appropriate
department. Frequently, medical questions can be handled most
promptly by speaking with our nurse. She is qualified to either
answer your questions, or get the information from the physician for
you. At times when the office is very busy the receptionist will
take your phone number and your call will be returned as quickly as
possible.
It is our policy to notify patients of diagnostic testing results if
they are abnormal. We do this by phone calls, letters, or verbally
by the physician at your next appointment. If you have testing done
and don’t hear back from us in a reasonable amount of time, please
call us and let us know.
Medications
It is vitally important
that we know what medications you are taking through this office or
through another physician. Please plan to bring your medications
with you to your office appointments. Please also alert us if any of
them are changed.
Prescription medications can be refilled by computer by giving us
the pharmacy name, medication name and prescription number.
Controlled drugs such as narcotics will need written prescriptions,
and will not be refilled on the weekend. Please anticipate your
needs and take care of this during the week.
Our computerized prescription system allows us to fax prescriptions
to most pharmacies. We also have an on-site pharmacy stocked with
many low cost generic medications. Many patients find it more
convenient to pick up medication while in the office, especially
during acute illnesses. Please ask about our pharmacy and whether it
might be an option for you.
Problems:
We encourage you to let us
know if we are not serving your needs fully. Your are important to
us and we welcome your input.
